Panoramic Tour and Brimstone Hill

This tour is not to me missed!. Drive through Basseterre (the city) where you’ll visit Independence Square (formerly Pall Mall Square). Here, you will have a chance to visit the Catholic Church (Co Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception). The drive continues along a scenic coastal road out to the Carib Petroglyphs and Romney Manor, the home of the Caribelle Batik at Old Road where the art of dyeing and drawing on Sea Island cotton can be witnessed. (Entrance fee US$3.00pp inclusive). An onsite gift shop gives you the opportunity to purchase items such as: t-shirts, dresses, shirts, wall hangings and other accessories.

The area at the Batik is close to the entry of the surrounding rainforest. Occasional glimpses green vervet monkeys, various birds, butterflies etc. are sometimes possible.   In our rainy season Wingfield River becomes the sound in the background of birds chirping and the chattering of monkeys. The nearby rainforest is a place of mystery, seasonal fruit trees (mango, breadnut, breadfruit, guava, coconut etc), fertile soil, lush foliage, canopies formed by thick lush trees with vines whilst the rays of the sun seeps through all of this beauty to give life.

Our next stop will be at the Gibraltor of the West Indies, “Brimstone Hill” (a beautiful fortress. Now a UNESCO Heritage Site. A US$10 fee (inclusive of tour) is required towards the continued restoration of this magnificent fortress. Explore this majestic structure as you view, cannon guns, artifacts of the 18th century British soldiers, tools and much more. The visit will certainly enlighten you on the history whilst you marvel at this imposing architectural structure.

A scenic drive back into the town will take you back to Port Zante where your cruise ship docked. There you can view part of our picturesque coastal area whilst you continue your shopping. Purchase a gift for yourself or for family and friends in our wide selection of stores.
